The video-game Medieval Total Wars takes place in the year 1336 during the centennial war. At the beginning of the game, you are "only" an aristocrat serving his king. From here it's up to you to work your way up until you finally become the ruler of your own kingdom. In the video-game Medieval Total Wars you can choose your favorite from over a dozen nations and 50 lords and join them. Because of this, the game has very high replay value, as each playthrough is different from the previous, depending on which nation and the king you join.

In the video-game Medieval Total Wars each of your steps in the game is saved. This means that there is no way to reload the game to an earlier point and there is no hope of a second chance if you make a mistake or lose. Therefore you should consider every decision you make very carefully. In the video-game Medieval Total Wars you must build your own city. Of course, you need resources for that. You will get these either by ordering farmers to collect them or by exploiting other cities. But you have to conquer these cities first. In the video-game Medieval Total Wars you can start siege offensives and fight gigantic battles with up to 120 battalions.
