Description

Story

But already a few months later an elite member of the unit 13 awakens from his cryogenic sleep and finds a nasty surprise. What the heck happened to all the colonists? Why are your enemies so aggressive and fight without any survival instincts? Fortunately, you don’t have to find the reasons without proper equipment. Your arsenal is full of many powerful weapons, grenades and mines. In addition, your elite soldier has unique abilities such as the Bullet-Time. The hunt for zombies can therefore begin! Thus, the horror-shooter Dead Effect does not fail to catapult you into terrifying scenarios that make your blood run cold. But therein lies the special attraction: Concerning the grim game world of Dead Effect, one should always be prepared to experience a nasty surprise. Everywhere you come across there are scattered clues that provide you with information that make you understand what has happened piece by piece. But the places you enter often are just perverse and disgusting. Imagine you wander into a glass chamber filled ankle-deep with blood. Suddenly some zombies land an attack and you have to shred them into pieces, if you don’t want to bite the dust. You can imagine what this bloodbath will look like. But such scenarios are only a foretaste of the brutality and extremity that Dead Effect is staging.

Gameplay

All premises of Dead Effect are painted in dark colors and exude the eerie charm that you would expect in such games. Another essential characteristic of Dead Effect is, of course, the great arsenal of firearms. And there are plenty of them, indeed! The switching controls between the individual guns go very smoothly. As the game progresses you can increase the firepower of your weapons, speed up the reload functions and purchase additional weapons. But for this purpose you have to collect the money that is distributed throughout the obscure game world. The stronger your weapons become the more likely the zombies will end up as cannon fodder. But the beasts move very quickly and often attack from ambush. A certain precision is therefore required!
The aim of the game is to kill off as many zombies as possible and thus to survive this dark journey on the infested ship! Suffice it to say: There are a lot of zombies, regarding Dead Effect. Of course, there are various types and also some are kind of like bosses. The giant zombies that swing chainsaws rather belong to the latter ones. Thus speaking of Dead Effect, not only the terrifying atmosphere strikes fear into the player’s heart, but also it’s the sheer mass of enemies, which he has to deal with. Therefore, it is not the worst strategy to lure as many zombies in a pile and then to throw a grenade right into their middle, watching them explode. The best tactic always is to blow as many zombies as possible to kingdom come at once. This saves time and energy. The bottom line is: Dead Effect is a very creepy first-person shooter, which provides rapid combat and wraps the whole gameplay into atmospheric graphics. The missions are varied and extreme. What remains is fear!
