Description

Story

The indie game Bionic Dues of the small but fine studio Arcen Games was first released in 2013. But even in 2016 this highly tactical, roguelike RPG has not lost any of its original charm.
Basically, Bionic Dues stages a gloomy dystopia where robots start off a terrible rebellion against humanity. After the best of the best have been destroyed during this civil war already, you will have no other choice than to enter these futuristic battle fields all by yourself. Your final object is clear: You'll have to stop the rebellion, otherwise the Corporate Overlords will lay your city in ashes.
Therefore: You'll have to proceed incredibly tactically and utilize the customization options of your mechs to their fullest potential. Thus, you are going to control several classes of so-called Exos through a variety of missions. The dark paths, passageways and alleys are all teeming with robots that are anything but good-humored. But you have to challenge them anyway during your journey. At least that will help you to encounter lucrative prey, destroy crucial robotic factories and slowly prepare yourself for the final attack of your enemies.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Bionic Dues looks something like this: The brilliant game of the small studio Arcen Games stages tricky, tactical encounters with strange robots including poor GPS, terrible inaccuracy, disturbing uncertainty, great lack of concentration, the tendency to friendly fire and dozens of other handicaps.
Among the more than 40 unique Robo-Bots are some hilarious and more or less harmless copies as the DumBots, BlunderBots or BatBots. The WyvernBots, DoomBots and MurderBots are in contrast very dangerous and fire at your Exos with terrifyingly effective weapon systems.
But do not worry: Your own Mechs are not be underestimated. The six very different Exo classes – Assault, Siege, Science, Sniper, Ninja and Brawler – do all have genuine weapons and special abilities. Considering the loot and prey that you collect successively, you can upgrade each of your four Exos with new weapons, defensive upgrades, expanded capabilities and amazing extras.
In addition, the strategy game of Arcen Games provides an extremely high replayability: You have to choose between 30 and 50 missions from a giant pool of 120 diverse quests and discover the city map accordingly. The final battle against the Robo-bots is generated each time individually based on your choice of missions. The procedurally generated levels reveal a splendid roguelike feeling and provide even more variety.

Trivia

The many positive reviews that the new indie game Bionic Dues from Arcen Games has been provoked already speak volumes: One author of the Penny Arcade Report particularly praises the unusual interaction of meta-strategy and micro-strategy in just one game! Another journalist of Strategy Informer praises more than anything else the opportunity to get free from even hopeless situations by simply taking hold of your deep bag of tricks. A third author of Dealspwn also agrees with his colleagues. According to him, it would be particularly the hard decisions and the many vagaries that provide Bionic Dues with such a massive replay value. Suffice to say: We have nothing more to add to this, because you don't have to search for other reasons to like this game!
