normally you'll be logged in to the forum automatically if you're logged in to the portal... if you've opened the forum on another domain than the portal, then you aren't logged in, due to the fact the portal is unable to handle autologins for more than one domain (you can still login yourself on all domains as the same time, but not automatically, because each domain needs a separat session)... however we're working on a solution long time ago, maybe we can create a solution for this problem soon

I also have had this problem. Wouldn't it be easier to have one single domain and subdomains. That way you can use one session for all subdomains?
Or is there an alternate way of browsing the site without going to a different domain? Isn't it the same server anyway?

EDIT: Should probably add some nice feedback also. I like the different modules, it great thinking :)

yes, it's only one single server (virtual one with a few little "hello world" sites by other people as far as I know)...

3 years ago we've planed this relaunch and our hoster as well as all information sources told us it won't be a problem to login with 1 click to all domains... however, after we've ordered the 15 additional domains to (ccj39.de, ccj39.com, world-of-civ.de, world-of-civ.com) and installed all the things 2.5 year ago, we've noticed that it won't be possible to login automatically to all domains... for this reason we've started to try different methods to bypass the problem... however up2day no way was really working... we've also thought about subdomains, but this also won't fix the login-problem, because the core of this site needs one login per subdomain too and we've also a lot of parts in sourcecode using the domainname to decide what to show and so on...

if you've any good idea how we can solve the problem, let me know Zwinkernd ... the only way to solve it seems to be to use subdirs instead of subdomains, but therefor a lot of changes in sourcecode are needed and we need to forward all old links to the right new ones, which will need a lot of time (and I need to learn some things for this first ^^ )

Well. My idea would be to one domain for this example, megadev.info. Then route md-trainers to trainers.megadev.info. or to http://trainers.megadev.info/index.php?newlang=german if domain is .de. This wont solve the session-issue tho. But if you store session ids in cookies you could read this: http://www.jontodd.com/2006/08/10/php-session-cookie-multiple-domains/
This may not be a good solution if you share the server with other unknown people.

the language isn't be a problem... our .info domains presets the language based on the browser-language (means autodection)... the .de resp. .com domains presets it to german resp. english... however the way using subdomains is the way we thought about... maybe the link you've posted can solve our problem with the sessions, because the core uses sessions-cookies (if I remember it right)... so thanks for the hint, I'll try it Zwinkernd

Okey. I guess I'll notice if it will work. Anyway, it's probably not the perfect solution, but it may be good enough.
